OUR LADY OF LOURDES PARISH

Tagkawayan, Quezon City

PARISH IDENTITY

Exterior Architecture

The church features a sturdy, reinforced concrete structure designed to withstand the tropical climate of Quezon. Its height and prominent positioning in the Poblacion represent the “uplifting of the soul,” serving as a physical landmark that has guided generations of Tagkawayeños.

Façade and Parish Grounds

The façade is characterized by a welcoming wide entrance and a bell tower that calls the community to prayer. The open grounds are designed for the “Salubong” and other outdoor processions, reflecting the historical importance of public communal worship in rural Philippines.
Interior

Interior Worship Space

The interior is designed with a wide nave to accommodate a large number of parishioners, emphasizing the “Church as a Family.” The high ceilings and ventilation are not just for comfort but symbolize the openness of the heart to the Holy Spirit, a design choice common in post-war Philippine churches.
Statue

Sanctuary and Liturgical Design

The focal point is the altar, often flanked by a replica of the Grotto of Lourdes. This design choice directly connects the local parish to the 1858 apparitions in France, reminding the faithful that the grace of Massabielle is present right here in Tagkawayan.
