Short History
St. Andrew the Apostle Parish
St. Andrew the Apostle Parish has been a beacon of faith for the people of San Andres, Quezon since its canonical establishment in 1966 under the Diocese of Gumaca. Dedicated to Saint Andrew the Apostle, the first disciple called by Jesus Christ, the parish has accompanied generations of faithful through prayer, worship, and service.
As the municipality of San Andres grew and flourished, the parish became the spiritual heart of the community, nurturing Catholic values through the celebration of the sacraments, religious formation, and charitable works. Inspired by the missionary zeal of its patron saint, St. Andrew the Apostle Parish continues its mission of proclaiming the Gospel and building a vibrant community united in faith, hope, and love.

A New Municipality is Born
The municipality of San Andres was created through Republic Act No. 2582, separating it from the Municipality of San Narciso. The new municipality was named in honor of Saint Andrew the Apostle, who would later become the patron of the parish community.
Laying the Foundations
San Andres began functioning fully as an independent municipality, laying the foundation for the growth of local civic, educational, and religious institutions.
St. Andrew the Apostle Parish is Established
St. Andrew the Apostle Parish was formally established under the Diocese of Gumaca to serve the growing Catholic population of San Andres and neighboring communities.
A Growing Community of Faith
As the population increased, the parish expanded its religious programs, youth formation, and devotional activities. Traditional celebrations honoring Saint Andrew the Apostle became important annual events for the community.
Strengthening Ministries for the Future
The parish intensified efforts in youth ministry, family apostolates, social outreach, and lay leadership formation in line with the pastoral directions of the Diocese of Gumaca.

Saint Andrew the Apostle
Saint Andrew was one of the Twelve Apostles and is traditionally regarded as the first disciple called by Jesus Christ. A fisherman by trade, he answered Christ’s call without hesitation, becoming a tireless missionary who spread the Gospel. Catholics honor his unwavering faith, his zeal for evangelization, and his martyrdom — crucified on an X-shaped cross, now known as the Cross of Saint Andrew. His example of discipleship and service continues to inspire the people of San Andres.
